7-OH Limit In Effect
Dutchess County Local Law No. 6 of 2026 prohibits concentrated and synthetic 7-OH products and leaves plain leaf legal for adults 21 and over. The County Executive signed it, and it took effect on September 28, 2026, when it was filed with the Secretary of State.

Rensselaer County's kratom ban took effect on October 14, 2026, when the county filed it with the New York Secretary of State as Local Law No. 1 of 2026. Adopted September 8, 2026 as Local Law T-4, it bans the sale and distribution of kratom county-wide, natural leaf and synthetic alike, and Hudson Valley Botanicals has stopped shipping to Rensselaer County addresses.

Oswego County adopted Local Law No. 7 of 2026 on September 10, 2026. It is not a ban: it sets an age-21 rule, behind-the-counter or locked storage at retail and a 500-foot school buffer, and takes effect December 9, 2026.

The Village of Montgomery Board of Trustees held a public hearing on October 6, 2026 on a local law that would make it unlawful to sell, offer for sale, distribute or otherwise provide kratom products in the village, natural leaf included. At its October 20, 2026 meeting the Board discussed the revised draft but did not vote; the Village Attorney is still revising it, and no vote date has been announced.
