Kratom powder or capsules: what actually differs?

Less than most pages claim. Garuda capsules are filled from the same milled, batch-tested powder we sell loose; the shell is vegetable cellulose and the batch COA covers both. What differs is logistics: how you measure it, carry it, taste it, and what a gram costs. Here is the straight comparison.

Side by Side

The comparison, spec by spec.

Kratom powder and capsules compared
Spec Loose powder Capsules
What it is Dried leaf, deveined and milled to a fine powder, sold loose by weight. The exact same milled powder packed into vegetable-cellulose capsule shells, sold by count.
Lab testing Every batch tested by an independent ISO 17025 lab; COA public, searchable by pouch batch number. Identical. Capsules are filled from the same tested lots, so the batch COA covers them the same way.
Measuring Weighed out by the user with a scale; sold in 28g through 3kg sizes. Pre-measured by the gram per capsule; sold in counts from 50 to 500.
Taste and handling The leaf is unmistakably vegetal; loose powder can be messy to handle. Taste-neutral and tidy; the cellulose shell is the only difference from loose powder.
Portability Best decanted or kept in its resealable pouch. Travels easily; nothing to measure or spill.
Price per gram Lower. Milling and pouching is the whole process, so bulk sizes get the best rates. Higher per gram. Encapsulation adds labor and materials; the convenience is what you are paying for.
Shelf life 12 to 18 months from the manufacture date when stored sealed, cool, and out of light. The same leaf ages the same way; the shell adds tidiness, not longevity.
Availability Every Garuda strain, all sizes, split kilos included. Select strains in capsule form; some states restrict non-powder formats, which checkout reflects automatically.
Same Leaf, Same Tests

One batch, one COA, two formats.

The thing to hold onto: form is packaging, not product. A lot of Super Green that passes the lab gets pouched as loose powder and filled into capsules from the same tested batch. The alkaloid numbers, heavy metals results, and microbial results on that lot's certificate of analysis describe both.

That is also why we publish COAs by batch number rather than by product: look up the number printed on your pouch or bottle in the public archive and you see the report for the exact leaf inside, whichever form it took.

Either form, same rules: how to store kratom

Forms FAQ

Common questions, answered straight.

Is the kratom in capsules different from the powder?

No. Garuda capsules are filled from the same milled, batch-tested powder we sell loose. The only added ingredient is the vegetable-cellulose capsule shell; there is no gelatin and nothing else in the shell.

Do capsules get the same lab testing as powder?

Yes, identically, because they come from the same lots. Every batch is tested by an independent ISO 17025 accredited lab before packaging, and the batch number printed on a capsule bottle or pouch looks up the same public COA as the loose powder from that lot.

Why does powder cost less per gram than capsules?

Encapsulation adds labor and materials on top of milling, so capsules carry a higher per-gram price. Loose powder, especially in the 500g through 3kg sizes and split kilos, is the most economical way to buy the same leaf.

Which form should I choose?

It is a logistics choice, not a product difference. Choose loose powder for the best per-gram price, the full strain lineup, and bulk sizes. Choose capsules for pre-measured convenience, neutral taste, and portability. Some states restrict non-powder formats; checkout reflects what is available for your address.
