Kalimantan, leaf to pouch.
Kalimantan is the Indonesian portion of Borneo and the largest kratom-producing region on earth. West Kalimantan in particular supplies the bulk of the world's commercial leaf, grown by family and smallholder farms concentrated along the island's major river systems.
What makes Kalimantan kratom country?
Borneo sits on the equator, and Kalimantan's lowlands are exactly the habitat Mitragyna speciosa evolved for: humid, hot, and wet year round, with rich alluvial soil deposited by rivers like the Kapuas. Trees grow wild along the waterways and in cultivated smallholder plots, often within a short boat ride of the villages that harvest them.
How is the leaf harvested and dried?
Harvesting is family work. Pickers select leaf by maturity depending on the vein designation the lot is destined for, and the leaf moves quickly from tree to covered drying sheds; direct sun is managed deliberately rather than left to chance. Once dried, leaf is deveined, milled, and bagged for export. Our buying relationships here are with growers we know by name, and every incoming lot is lab tested before it is packaged.
Kalimantan leaf is the backbone of the Garuda line: consistent, high leaf-to-stem ratios, and available across every vein color. The "Bali" strains of the trade are also Borneo-grown leaf, named for the historic export route rather than the island.
